\"\"<\/a>Linda Burton traveling from Sacramento, California to Carson City, Nevada<\/em> \u2013 Today was the day to tackle \u201cThe Sierra.\u201d I\u2019ve been hearing about it for two weeks; it\u2019s all the Sacramento news \u2013 the weather of it, the condition of the road to Tahoe, events to entertain. I couldn\u2019t see it, and didn\u2019t really understand (why isn\u2019t it Sierras, plural?).\u00a0 I\u2019d delayed a day to let the snow clouds dissipate; no chains<\/em> in my repertoire. Now I had a sunny day and loaded up with ease, one thing at a time from room to car.<\/p>\n

At last the cats; who held out till the last underneath the bed. \u201cWhere is your sense of adventure?\u201d I asked, \u201ctoday you get to be Nevada Cats!\u201d They were not amused.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I knew our world would change dramatically in this three-hour trip; crossing over Donner Pass, going from city to town, wet to dry, green to brown.<\/p>\n

I had these facts:<\/p>\n

Elevation: Sacramento 25 feet. Carson City 4,687 feet.<\/em><\/p>\n

Population: Sacramento 489,488 people. Carson City 55,374 people.<\/em><\/p>\n

But that didn\u2019t tell me how beautiful the drive between the two would be. I could wax poetic; instead I\u2019ll just show you what I saw today.<\/p>\n
