I was asking for advice, a grocery store, pet supplies, good restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot so much,\u201d I replied, with a sort-of-grimaced face, \u201cthough I do love Asian food.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell you\u2019ve got lots of choices here!\u201d Liz waved her hands as she pointed towards Arden Way, and Howe, downtown, naming places I could find good food. Her nails sparkled as she waved, I reached out to touch, ten works of art in miniature, flowers layered in 3-D, \u201cExplain these nails to me!\u201d I smiled. I needed a pedicure too, Liz directed me.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I found the place, storefront nestled midway in the mall. Walkins welcome, said the sign, and I was seated right away. \u201cIt\u2019s my birthday,\u201d I revealed, \u201cI\u2019m going for a lunch treat after this, tell me someplace good to eat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you like pho?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>I wondered at the Asian population here, a Google check shows this:<\/p>\n<p>Sacramento, US 2010 Census<\/p>\n<p>45% white, 26.9% Hispanic, 18.3% Asian, 14.6% Black; 7.1% list two or more races.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/quickfacts.census.gov\/qfd\/states\/06\/06067.html\">http:\/\/quickfacts.census.gov\/qfd\/states\/06\/06067.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With such diversity in a city, not only Asian restaurants are plentiful, food choices are many and varied. This promises to be fun!<\/p>\n<p>First page of the Spring &amp; Summer Visitor\u2019s Guide \u2013 8 wide-variety restaurants &amp; bars in 1 Block between 15<sup>th<\/sup> and 16th on \u201cL\u201d Street:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cafeteria 15L: Casual American<\/li>\n<li>Ma Jong\u2019s Asian Diner: Fast Casual Asian<\/li>\n<li>The Park Ultra Lounge: Nightlife<\/li>\n<li>Devere\u2019s Irish Pub: Classic Irish Pub<\/li>\n<li>Mix Downtown: Small Plates &amp; Wine<\/li>\n<li>Sapporo Japanese: Grill and Steakhouse<\/li>\n<li>Petra Greek: Authentic Greek Cuisine<\/li>\n<li>Firestone Public House: Sports Bar<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This former gold-rush town still caters to the hearty appetite, steakhouses abound; historic\u00a0places near the riversides, Old Sacramento, midtown. Or you can choose the new, the family owned, the chains.<\/p>\n<p>And back to Asian, I\u2019m intrigued by Fat\u2019s Chinese, Fat City in Old Sacramento, Frank Fat\u2019s near the capitol. I see Thai restaurants, Korean bar-be-cue (Seoul food?), Mikuni\u2019s Japanese at several spots; and as for Pho, I stopped\u00a0my count\u00a0at 50 Vietnamese listings in Urban Spoon: Andy Nguyen\u2019s, Pho Bac Hoa, Pho Lotus, Noodle Shop, Pho Dynasty, Saigon Bay, Viet Hoa.<\/p>\n<p>Enough!
